I have a 2012 model Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland diesel. When I purchased it at auction, the leather covering on the crash pad was all loose – like an older person’s face that needed an urgent facelift. There were a couple of solutions – first was to get a trim expert to reglue it. The second was to install a dash mat and the third was to approach my local Jeep dealer and ask for a goodwill warranty claim.
My recent experience with Fiat Chrysler was that I didn’t hold out a lot of hope, even though the car had been serviced on time every time by it’s original owner (a mechanic working in Mackay) Thankfully the owner had stamped each service when he completed the work. I approached my Jeep dealer and asked them to submit a claim. Most of my industry friends said that I was dreaming I did it anyway.
Yesterday (Jan 23rd) I took a call from Michael Algie, the service manager ofNorthstar Jeep who advised that the claim had been approved, the part was on its way and that he’d booked my car in for February 7th.
Not only is the Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel a brilliant car, but it seems that the good folk at Fiat Chrysler may have made a new years resolution to take more care of their customers. This is just a suggestion – even if your vehicle is out of the manufacturer warranty, ask the question. Australian Consumer Law, which came in January 2011 may have had a part to play here, or not. For this claim, a reasonable person would expect that the crash pad covering should have lasted longer than 5 years. At least I did and I think I’m a reasonable person.
So, if you’re faced with the ‘sorry it’s out of warranty’ mantra from car dealers, let me assist with your claim or at least let me give you some advice. It’s free (the advice anyway) and I’ll take some pleasure in getting your rightful claim approved.
