There’s so many Car of the Year awards given out nowadays, that arguably the quality of the awards can be called into question. What started as the COTY by Wheels magazines is now a tidal wave based on advertising revenue, motoring journalist junkets, and other criteria too numerous to mention.
So, here are my opinions based on customers who have purchased new vehicles through Car Business and as importantly the number of or lack of customer complaints about those vehicles.

Mitsubishi ASX LS SUV
The ASX has been the choice of people who want to maintain the current size of their vehicle from external dimensions, yet achieve a large interior compartment. Useful for small families, single drivers, and a great second car, the Mitsubishi ASX was very competitively priced, with outstanding features and an industry leading warranty of 5 years.
Generally, we’ve been able to purchase the Mitsubishi ASX LS 2WD for under $25,000 including metallic paint (normally a $500 charge) and window tinting. And besides the five-year warranty, if you service with Mitsubishi, they provide a 12-month roadside assistance package for the next 12 months. So that’s another saving of around $100 per year and arguably you’re still getting the service by your local RACQ breakdown service.

Ford Ranger XLT Dual Cab
Ford Ranger is the choice of tradies and the Car Business COTY for commercial vehicles
There’s no doubt that Ford has had a tough year with the closure of their manufacturing plants in Victoria but the Ranger has been a bright light in an otherwise dull sales result. Not my personal choice for a 4WD dual cab (VW Amarok is my personal pick) the Ranger’s size has tradies lining up. Whilst one of the more expensive dual cabs, it seems that size does matter, at least in this category.
Most Popular Prestige Vehicle Brands
It’s a dead heat here between Audi, Range Rover, and BMW. If you’ve got the dollars, there’s a very wide choice in this category. And all these owners have been pretty happy with the quality, technology, and features in these vehicles. The only downer was the price to replace a windscreen in a Range Rover Evoque. $2500 for a replacement screen seems pretty expensive and the owner had to make an insurance claim and shell out her $750 excess. Service costs aren’t that inexpensive either, but if you’re investing in an $70,000 plus vehicle, then servicing costs aren’t the major influence on your decision.
The Audi TT isn’t a new model for 2016, but it was the sports car of choice for clients of Car Business. Good looking, great performance and handling, if you can afford one, and interior space isn’t an issue, then take one for a drive and make the decision yourself
