Car Business – Any New Car Cheaper
Hi, Bob Aldons, the owner and founder of Car Business.
In 1977 after the closure of the Express Newspaper Group (Owned by News Limited) I applied for a position at Torque Ford Strathpine as a trainee fleet salesman. I started with Torque Ford in February 1978 and I’ve been involved in cars ever since. From the fleet sales role in 1978, I took on the position of new car sales manager in 1980 and then onto General Sales Manager and afterwards General manager of the Torque Group responsible for four Ford dealerships (Torque Ford Redcliffe, Torque Ford Strathpine Sun Ford Caboolture and Metro Ford) and a Toyota dealership (Torque Toyota).
In early 2000, I decided to leave the Torque Group and take on the role as Dealer Principal and subsequently owner of Northstar Motor Group Redcliffe in partnership with industry veteran Paul Norris of the Norris Motor Group. Paul and I split the business in 2012 and I took over Northstar Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Northstar Alfa Romeo and Fiat as well as Northstar Volkswagen and Northstar Isuzu Ute.
Along the way I also had Northstar Citroen and Northstar Mahindra.
So my complete historical franchise list comprised Ford, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Citroen, Chery, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Isuzu Ute, Mahindra and Volkswagen.
And I’ve bought or helped purchase a lot more cars too – Lexus, BMW, Toyota, Audi, Holden, Ford, Kia, Hyundai, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes, Mini, Nissan, SsangYong, Subaru, Honda, LDV, Haval, Hino, Great Wall and Ram – almost too many to list.
I’ve also had significant experience behind the scenes with my manufacturers.

Automotive Journalist
Since 2018, I started writing car reviews for a number of Australian importers through The Car Guy.
I review the cars I drive through the eyes of a new car buyer rather than typical journalistic endeavours.
I’ve reviewed: Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, LDV, Haval, Renault, Suzuki, MG, Subaru, Honda, Chery, Polestar, Volkswagen and Isuzu Ute.
Why is this important?
I think the foregoing provides sufficient evidence that I know my stuff and I’m considered to be an expert in most aspects of new cars.
