At Last! 2017 model Volkswagen Crafter launched

Hi. Bob Aldons from Car Business again, with advice on cars and everything automotive. This post confirms the launch of the all new 2017 Volkswagen Crafter to be built in Poland. Volkswagen dealers worldwide will be celebrating as it’s almost 2 years since MMercedes-Benz withdrew the availability of the automatic transmission in the still current van here in Australia. Companies such as Apollo Motor Homes have moved to Fiat Ducato for their conversions but will undoubtedly reconsider when the auto option finally returns to Australia.

Car Business is a multi-dimensional automotive company that aims to help you to buy your new car for a better price than you can do on your own. Our experienced staff will stand alongside you, and act on your behalf to help you buy your new car at a better price than you can directly through new car dealers.

Volkswagen Crafter
New Crafter launches at last.

Thanks to industry colleagues at here’s the first information available of the new Crafter

The all-new Volkswagen Crafter has been officially launched at a VW event. The new van, which will rival the likes of the Ford Transit, Fiat Ducato, and Mercedes Sprinter offers a range of efficient 2.0-litre diesel engines and optional four-wheel drive. Order books will open soon, but Volkswagen hasn’t announced details of UK pricing just yet. While the previous Crafter shared a body and platform with the Mercedes Sprinter, the partnership has ended and so the new model is unique to Volkswagen for the time being. It’s had the full gamut of Volkswagen technology thrown at it, and will be built at a brand-new plant in Poland specifically made to build Crafters.

The new Crafter has the standard Volkswagen ‘family face’, which seems to translate quite nicely onto a larger, boxy vehicle. Lying behind the corporate grille is VW’s familiar 2.0-litre diesel engine, found across its van and passenger car range. It’s now Euro 6 compliant, and will be available in four power outputs – 100bhp, 120bhp, 138bhp and a bi-turbo unit with 175bhp. Despite the usual boxy shape, the new Crafter will have the lowest drag coefficient in its class, at just 0.33. That makes it more slippery and aerodynamic than any other large van in production, and should pay dividends in fuel economy and emissions.

The familiar diesel engine will be available with four different power outputs, and buyers can specify manual or automatic transmissions. Depending on the owner’s needs, the Volkswagen Crafter can be specified with front, rear, or 4MOTION four-wheel drive.

Three different lengths and three different roof heights mean that whatever load you want to carry, you should be able to find a Crafter to suit your needs. Expect an entry-level load bay of around 2,600mm, in line with the current model, with a width of about 1,300mm to match. There’ll also be a range of specialist bodystyles and base vehicles ready for conversion to suit the needs of different businesses.

The big news for potential Crafter owners is the addition of lots of safety tech, both active and passive. The Crafter is the first large panel van with electric power steering, allowing for more safety systems to actively intervene durring driving. That means the new Crafter has ESP with trailer stabilisation, adaptive cruise control, side-wind assistance and a trailer manoeuvring system – all available either as standard or optional equipment.

There’s also front, side, and head airbags for driver and passenger, as well as a reversing camera, parking sensors and a rear traffic alert system. Other safety highlights are LED headlights with a cornering system as well as main beam assist.

Every article I write is targeted at providing as much information for car owners and prospective car buyers.

Above anything else, Car Business is a company that provides automotive advice for car owners who don’t have access to experts. Am I an expert? I’ve been in the car business for over 38 years, and while there are areas where I’ll reach out to friends and acquaintances for advice, I’ve got a pretty good grasp of most aspects of the business. I’ve been called a lot of things in my time – Car Doctor, Car Professor or The Car Guy, but whenever someone wants some sensible advice, they call me.

I don’t charge for advice, whether it’s on the phone, via email or face to face. I’m happy to provide my expertise whenever I can. So if you want to chat to The Car Guru, get in touch.

I have access to good quality cars – you can see them on Cars Guide. Just click here [Cars Guide] to view our current stock of vehicles.

Other parts of my business that you may find the need to use from time to time are: This is an online spare parts store for Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Volkswagen and Isuzu Ute. I’ve got thousands of mechanical and panel parts plus Mopar (Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Alfa) T-Shirts, tyres, and alloy wheels as well. If you’re looking for a hard to get replacement part for any of these brands, or you just want to get a better price than retail on any car brand, let me know. And you won’t pay inflated replacement parts prices either. I’ve priced my stock at a discounted value to compete with the USA and Europe spare parts prices but with local delivery charges

We’re local agents for Williams Paint and Interior Protection as well as AutoGard and CleanGard car products and SunX window tinting. The Same story applies. This is an area that car dealers want to make an amazing amount of profit – up to 100% in some cases. Don’t get ripped off by the franchise car dealers – check us out for a local competitive price on car protection products, window tinting, and engine products.

I’m pleased to advise that in 2015 I was awarded the franchise for 1800Approved Finance. As a local finance company, we’re able to provide a better level of service than the local car dealers as well as pretty competitive rates. SO before you sign on the dotted line, let us compare rates on finance and insurance for you – no obligation. If you’re looking for finance for a new or used car, or any other worthwhile purpose, our company can assist – even if you’ve had some troubling financial issues.

BLOG – I write a new Blog for my website a couple of times a week. If you’d like to read some of the stories I’ve written just click here.
